Let Yourself BLOSSOM.

Adjusting to the challenges of life can impact on our physical and emotional well-being. Having someone assist in adapting to such challenges can be very beneficial. My style of therapy aims at applying evidence-base practice that helps people understand their experience and explore avenues to bring about change.

YOUR LIFE.

Counselling is a process that takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty or concern, or a loss of a sense or direction or purpose the client is experiencing.

By listening attentively and patiently, the counselor can begin to perceive the difficulties in a non-judgemental way, from the client’s point of view, and help them to see things with more clarity, from alternative views, and explore options for managing the issue. Counselling does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action.

Both counsellors and psychotherapists work from a variety of theoretical approaches with their clients. These therapies range from the phenomenological based therapies such as existentialism and conversational model, through to the skill-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioural therapy or dialectical-behaviour therapy.

What happens in counselling?

In the counselling sessions, the client can explore various aspects of their life and feelings, talking about them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends and family. Bottled up feelings such as anger anxiety, grief, shame and embarrassment can become very intense. Counselling offers an opportunity to explore them, with the possibility of making them easier to understand.

Acceptance and respect for the client are essentials for a counselor, and as the relationship develops, so too does trust between the counselor and client, enabling the client to look at many aspects of their life, their relationships and themselves which they may not have considered, or been able to face before.
